Jeffrey brings more than twenty-five years of experience in the Hospitality industry. After graduating first in his class at Southwest Miami Senior High, he then attended Miami Dade Community College before traveling to Sorrento Italy on a Culinary internship.. He then attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he studied both Hotel Restaurant Management and International Finance. He went on to develop a chain of highly successful restaurants in resort areas throughout the south. After helping further develop the concept while working with Apple South, the largest franchisee of Applebee’s Neighborhood Grille and bar, he was involved in their expansion roll out, assisting in opening Mediterranean restaurants in seven southern states.
Upon the sale of AppleSouth to Applebee’s International, Kalt established Epicurean Concepts. Epicurean has become one of the leaders among boutique Executive Search firms. In 1998, Jeffrey worked with Elizabeth Blau on talent acquisition for Bellagio Las Vegas, in support of StarChefs Todd English, Michael Mina, Julian Serrano, Jean George Vongerichten, and restaurateur Sirio Macchioni, forever altering the landscape of the Food and Beverage scene. Again in 2004 and 2007, at WYNN and WYNN ENCORE, Kalt performed similar tasks while supporting Chef Alex Stratta, Takahashi Yagahashi, Paul Bartalotta, Richard Chen, David Waldzog and Stephen Kalt, along with Theo Schoenegger and Larry Forgione.
Kalt later completed work on Cosmopolitan Casino working with New York restaurants MILOS of NYC and STK and Scarpetta Restaurants to secure senior management and culinary talent for their openings. In 2012 Epicurean developed award winning ALEGRA Dubai, Restaurant and Ultra Lounge, the first Modern Spanish style Tapas concept featuring Jose Andres protege Jorge Chicas from Bazaar at SLS in Hollywood. Additionally, Kalt completed all Executive Level F&B staffing at the SIX (6) Star Mulia Bali Hotel generally regarded as the most luxurious resort Indonesia must offer.
Kalt, recently selected by Caligroup, a Pasadena based hospitality tech company, to lead the development of a "WeWork for Kitchens" meets On-Demand Delivery Only ,Virtual Restaurant concept opened in Pasadena in June 2018. Housed in the former Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Pasadena CA, Kitchen United will fill multiple kitchens with well-known Los Angelenos concepts, acclaimed chefs as well as regionally and nationally known brands. Additionally, it will provide shared space to culinarians to prep for catering, food trucks, incubator brands and concepts as well as product development.
Kitchen United will provide grouping of delivery orders allowing customers to select from multiple menus with a single click of an app. Our delivery partners along with third party aggregator ORDER MARK and their proprietary technology will allow for tracking of orders for coordinated pickup at Kitchen United. This technology will allow the stacking of orders increasing our driver's efficiency allowing them to leverage heat-mapping to increase driver payloads.
Caligroup partner Miso Robotics is also headquartered at Kitchen United and will offer an integration of Robotic Kitchen assistants featuring Artificial Intelligence and Machine vision within our Kitchens in the future. Flippy the Cobotic Kitchen assistant is presently being featured at Caliburger in Pasadena in advance of the opening in Pasadena. Our chefs and cooks will be able to work alongside our Chef-techs in years to come forever re-imagining the way the kitchens of the future will operate.
