My current residence is in Fairport (Penfield), NY. I have lived and worked in Upstate NY full time since Feb 2008. Prior to that I lived and worked in the Greater Boston area, in NH and in VT.

I graduated from Nashua Senior High School in NH in 1985. I then went to Keene State College in Keene, NH from 1985 to 1989. I received a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics in May 1989.

I subsequently went to The University of Vermont (UVM) and received a M.S. in Materials Science Engineering in 1992. I worked on my Ph.D. from 1992 to 1996, but did not finish the degree due to family health issues.

After leaving my Ph.D. program I worked in Essex Jct., VT at the IBM Microelectronics Division, and in the greater Boston areas in semiconductor and MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) industries from 1994 to 2006 full time.

In 2007, I returned to UVM to finish my Ph.D. and I started MicroGen Systems LLC. I graduated with my Ph.D. in Materials Science in May 2012. I lived part-time in Burlington, VT (in Boston on weekends) from Jan-May 2007. From May 2007 to Feb 2007 I lived in Boston and commuted to Canandaigua, NY to work as a consultant with the Infotonics Tech Center via a partnership with MicroGen while performing research for my Ph.D. From Feb 2008 to the present I have lived in Upstate NY (Ithaca, Macedon, Penfield, Fairport, and Rochester).

MicroGen's products were based upon my Ph.D. research prototypes; piezoelectric MEMS based vibration energy harvesters (VEH) which scavenge ambient mechanical energy from the environment to power wiresless sensors in the so-called "Internet of Things". The piezoMEMS VEH prototypes were developed at the Cornell NanoScale Science and Technology Facility (www.cnf.cornell.edu) in Ithaca, NY.

MicroGen located in Rochester, NY completed an $8M Series A round of funding in two tranches in May 2012 and Oct 2016. The prototype design and fabrication process was transferred from Cornell to production at X-Fab (www.xfab.com) in Germany.

I departed as CEO in July 2016 and became an Advisor until July 2017. The Company was sold in July 2017 for an undisclosed amount. I am no longer affiliated with the company or its partners.

I am presently (Dec 2017) an Adjunct Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I reside in Fairport (Penfield), NY.   Full Summary
