I was born and raised on Staten Island, New York. Graduated Curtis High School in 1962 and went on to Staten Island Community College where I earned a degree in psychology. I worked in New York City at various jobs until I found a job with Joseph L. Shapiro & Co. I was the supervisor of the insurance claims department. I left this job in 1973. I met my husband #1, Larry "Harlow" Kahn through my second job at night working as a hat check girl. We married, lived between Pennsylvania and my moms house until 1978. We subsequently divorced. Prior to our divorce, I formed "Latin Fever," a 14 piece all woman orchestra who was recorded on Fania Records. With the help of Larry and the many writers and arrangers we had we did fairly well. We had one LP out and were getting ready for the receipt of new sounds coming out of Cuba. But it was not to be. We divorced and the orchestra disbanded except for the three singers. They went on to do background vocals for other bands and on other LP's. They were so well known as the Voices of Latin Fever they were used on a Julio Iglesias LP. I re-married and we moved to Pennsylvania. I raised African Pgymy Goats and he worked as a captain on an oil barge out of Staten Island. I then got a job as a newspaper reported and became a member of the Associated Press . I also owned a share in a restuarant, bakery and Italian Deli. We were doing fairly well and my business partner died suddenly of a back injury. I closed the deli, bakery, and restaurant down and moved back to Staten Island.I got divorced again. And subsequently was on the move to Alburquerque, New Mexico. As luck would have, it I was turned away from my destination and headed south west to Las Cruces to visit my niece who was studying at NMSU. I ended up renting the house next door to her and stayed there for a year. She graduated, moved back to Hawaii, and I sold my truck and most of my inheritance to buy a house and 5 acres of land. I opened a store in town in the antique district, selling odds and ends and then into higher end antiques. I expanded and opened an art gallery and an aromatherpy shop called "Sand Dancer." This was quite successful until the City came in and built an island down the middle of the street. No parking, No place for people to walk and take in the shops. We all eventually closed our doors. I meantime started raising African Pygmy goats again. I became ill, sold the goats, sold the house and the 5 acres and moved into a 2 bedroom apartment in the middle of Las Cruces. This was at the constant harping of my friend who lived in town and kept telling me, oh you will be close to us, close to your doctors and close to the hospital. Well I moved in, a new hospital was built on the other side of town and all my doctors moved with it. So Now I am stuck in this apartment, my friend got very ill and is just about a recluse now. I still drive, go to my outings on the weekends with "Latin Funktion," a band I became friends with through school. Oh, I didn't mention I went back to college and got my Associates Degree In Criminal Justice. Now I have graduated and am trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow Up!
