I'm an Air Force veteran who is now retired from a career in Corporate Communications and spend most of my time writing short stories, essays, screenplays, poems, etc. I'm well read, very creative, with a spiritual bent and a romantic nature. I work out at a local gym and have changed my dietary habits in order to become healthier. I have three children and seven grandchildren, whom I love dearly, and am trying to spend more time with them, and I agree with Captain Bentine, who served under Custer, but despised him, when he wrote "The love of a child is a pearl without price." I find poetry to be inspirational and philosophical. I believe what John Donne once wrote: "Every man's death diminishes me, because I am involved with Mankind." He also wrote "Ask not for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for Thee." And then there is Soupy Sales, who said: "Be true to your teeth and they won't be false to you." I have a broad range of literary interests. For example, I recently read a book about George Washington’s farewell address and am currently reading an essay by Freud about psychotherapy, but I’ve also read extensively from the works of Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell, who was the role model for Indiana Jones. I’ve often been told that I should have been either a psychologist or a teacher. In a sense I did become a teacher, developing corporate and industrial training programs for a wide variety of clients that included Ford Industrial Engine Operations, the Ford Marketing Institute, Johnson Controls, Federal Mogul, Northrup Aviation, etc. I was a volunteer in an adult reading program, and helped a young man get a much better job by helping him raise his reading level from Fifth Grade to Eighth Grade. I am a problem solver by nature. I have a strong background in industrial cinematography and graphic arts and am currently involved in researching a documentary film project. I like to travel and plan to visit other writer friends and musicians in London and Switzerland later this year. I love all kinds of music and like to quote Igor Stravinsky, who once told Benny Goodman “There are only two kinds of music; good, and bad.” I like to cook and am working my way through a cookbook devoted to Mediterranean recipes. I love spicy food; it makes me feel good. I love good wine, but drink in moderation. I sometimes invent cocktails. My latest creation is The Drunken Turkey. I’ll let you guess what’s in it. I’m seeking a woman who shares many of my interests, and at least some of my personal philosophy; a woman who is romantic by nature and appreciates romantic gestures like flowers, poetry, moonlight walks on beaches, nature walks, music, etc. I am very flexible in my thinking and believe that a good relationship is based upon mutual trust and respect and that men and women should become friends before they become lovers. I have many dreams yet to be achieved and always respect the dreams and desires of others. I love animals, especially dogs. I think they truly are our best friends. My life was saved twice by dogs when I was a child, and so dogs hold a special place in my heart. I’m looking for that most elusive of all beings, one with a golden heart.
I want to know who you are, what you believe in, what are the most important things in your life, how important your family is to you, what are your dreams and aspirations, what makes you laugh, what makes you cry, what motivates you, how do you feel about children? What was your childhood like; were you happy, are you happy now? How are you perceived by others? Do you like yourself? Who are your role models, your heroes? Are you concerned about things like social injustice and equality? Are you kind, gentle, charitable? Are you ever a volunteer? Would you rather play golf on Sunday or visit a friend or a relative in a nursing home? Are you an animal lover? If so, do you prefer dogs or cats, or both? Have you ever ridden a horse or hiked to the top of a mountain? Do you like to swim in the ocean, or do you prefer a swimming pool, or a lake? Would you go flying with me, or sailing? Would you enjoy a ride in a tourist-type submarine with windows? Do you ride a bike? Would you play Frisbee with me? Are you a sports fanatic or a sometimes fan like me? What's the last book you read, and how often do you read? Would you rather read a book or watch a movie; do you prefer to read the book and then see the movie, or vice versa, and why? Can you name your top five favorite movies, or your favorite songs and music? Are you an Elvis fan or a Beatles fan, or can you enjoy both, as I do? Do you enjoy several different kinds of music? Do you listen to music when you work, or does it depend upon the type of music? How important is music in your life? Can you play a musical instrument? Have you ever written a poem, or a short story? How curious are you about things in general? What motivates and inspires you? What turns you on? What turns you off? Do you need drugs to feel good about yourself, or can you be happy without artificial stimulation? Do you believe in love? Would you agree that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference?
