Karan Aggarwala is 53 years old and was born in year 1967 AD: two years before the moon landing. Karan grew up in Piermont [Rockland County of New York] near the Tappan Zee bridge. His father was educated in Shimla [North India] and attended Engineering school at Ohio State in years 1955 to 1959.
Grandpa went to England in year 1919 and trained in Veterinary Medicine with certifications also from Germany and France; and entry into the RCVS.
Karan was inspired at the bicentennial parade of July 1976 to begin a process of inquiry regarding the history of America. In 1977 father obtained the World Book Encyclopedia and the Funk & Wagnall's Dictionary for ready reference; alongside the Merck manual; and volumes of the Time-Life Collection as well as the Will and Ariel Durant's History of Civilization.

First awareness of looking like a Native American kid came in third grade when a fellow classmate at Tappan Zee elementary asked Karan if he lived in a Tee Pee. At Boy Scout summer camps in Rockland county, Karan learned the sailor's knot and learned to swim the backstroke. Leather jacket of Henry Winkler [The Fonz on Happy Days] was most inspiring but Karan has never owned one thus far. The price of chocolate milk at the cafeteria was 10 cents in 1976; and a slice of pizza [Sicilian] 35 cents. Visits to New York City revealed peculiar writings on the subway cars [graffiti] and many creeping vines upon the outside of residential buildings.
For a more cost-effective medical education Karan attended the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, emphasizing clinical ophthalmology. After passing the Optometry Admission Test [1988] Karan enrolled for the MS-PhD in Visual [Physiology and Neuro-] Science in Gramercy Park NYC [of SUNY Albany]. Support came from the F-32 post-doctoral fellowship from NIH [NRSA: Behavioral Neuroscience Study Section].
Ancestry of father [although from South-Asia] can be traced to Azerbaijan; and ancestry of mother is part Portugese. Despite Religion of father being Hindu; no ceremonies were permitted in the home. Religion of mother most closely resembled Christian Science [Mary Baker Eddy]. Karan was mentored in teenage years by a Jesuit priest born in Australia.
