Child prodigy pianist, later professional rock, blues and progressive/at musician.
A functional heroin addict for several decades he was ruined by the drug in the late 1980's, with a series of physically devastating overdoses sand a subsequent descent into to madness.
After several years of homeless wandering, he ended up in prison, where he remained for almost a decade.
Released in 2015, sane and sober, but having lost everything and everyone he loved, he worked hard to build a new life, and eventually made his way to Amelia Island, where his last truly happy life had been lived almost 40 years in the past.
At present he is in Nassau County, FL, playing live, supporting local charities and social service agencies, while working to establish a new model for transitional housing to serve ex-offenders and disadvantaged vets.
In October 2017, he was diagnosed with liver cancer, has rejected all treatment, and is contemplating a US tour in which he intends to perform/speak at every VFW & American Legion in the country, for the benefit of Alpha TLC.
He expects to live for less than two more years, at most, and wants to be of some service the time he has left.
Jacob Dylan Taylor celebrated the start of his 10th year free from addiction in July 2017, and recently earned a PhD (Comparative Religion) and an MA (Philosophy).
